Day 1

Your mind is the storehouse of what you want to do and who you want to be.  Your desire is in your mind. Deliberation and decision takes place in the mind. Everything  you do whether good or bad, originates from your mind. For as he thinks in his heart [mind], so is he. Prov. 23:7a (emphasis mine). What you think is what you really are, whether you say and act what you think, or say and act something different, sooner or later, whatever is in your mind will be revealed through your words and action. As in water face reflects face, so a man’s heart [mind] reveals the man. Prov.27:19 (emphasis mine) Reflection: What are you constantly thinking of?

MIND FACTS

Guard your heart above all else, for it determines the course of your life. Prov. 4:23 (NLT). It is often said that words are important, words are seeds, what you say determines what you get, words shape your future and so on. I quite agree with all these. Words are important, but words come from fountain and that fountain is the mind. If words are important, the mind that produce the words is equally important or even more important . In the next few days, we will examine some facts about the mind.

MAN YOUR GATES

The mind works like the processing unit of a computer. There is an input which is processed and it yields an output. The mind receives information, it thinks through the information and it produces a response. The mind has gates through which information goes in. These gates are: what you see- pictures, live scenes, films etc.; what you hear- music, words etc. and what you read- magazines, books etc. Do you know that some words you heard about twenty years ago are still fresh in your memory? What about films and musical video clips or films you watched five years ago? Your mind has the capacity to replay things to you over and over again. The root of your problem might be the fact that your gates have been let loose for a very long time. You may say it does not matter, but check it: are you not being controlled by what you have heard, what you have seen and what you have read? In order to have a winning mind, there is the need to  make conscious effort on what you allow to pass...

The eyes of your mind

Apart from the physical eyes, we also have what can be referred to as 'the eyes on the mind'. Through your mind's eyes you see yourself, your situation and circumstances that surround your life. Through the eyes of your mind you see yourself as a winner or loser; you see success or failure; you see possibilities or impossibilities. The children of Israel having scout the land of Canaan came back with reports. Ten of the spies said, 'we were in our own sight as grasshoppers' Numbers13: 33 (KJV). In  the eyes of their mind and in their thought, they felt like grasshoppers, they thought like grasshoppers and what more, they received a grasshopper treatment, they were attacked and beaten by their enemies. What do you see through the eyes of your mind? success, greatness, promotion, possibilities, achievement, favour etc.  Remember, your win or lose starts from your mind.

Is your mind in agreement?

Do you wonder why your prayers are not answered? As a Christian, sometimes you fast, pray, decree, prophesy, sow seed of faith etc., yet you do not get a good result. One area Christians need to check is the aspect of their thought lives especially in relation with the prayer they are praying. Do you really mean what you are saying when you pray? Are your thoughts in agreement with the prayer you have prayed? Maybe your prayer is a case of crying out to God with your lips while your mind is far from what your lips are saying? It is important that your thoughts and prayers are in agreement because God gives you the desires of your heart (mind) Psalm37:4. He establishes your thoughts Prov. 16:3, not just what you say with your mouth. He weighs the thoughts of your heart (mind) Prov. 21:2 as well. The type and quality of your thought goes a long way to determine the type and quality of answer you get to your prayers. Out of your thoughts comes your words, out of y...
